A New Year!

 Happy New Year! I can't believe another year has already past. I purposefully disconnected with my phone, computer and social media this holiday season. We had such a good time as a family - sleeping in, staying in pjs all day, cooking, watching movies in bed and playing. 

Work-wise...2017 was filled with some fun and exciting jobs. I didn't take on as many projects this year in order to hold down my biggest job on the Homefront - taking care of these 3 kiddos. I was able to design a good mixture of logos, websites and print materials. For 2018, I am excited to take on more and produce some great quality designs.

A Farm to Table Evening to Remember

I recently had the cool opportunity to work on this first ever Farm to Table event in downtown Columbia. It was one of those projects we had to move quickly on and didn't have much time to pull everything together, but we managed to get it done, and I believe everyone was pleased with the final outcome. From the pictures, it seems the event was a huge success, and I am glad my graphics helped set the tone. Columbia continues to impress with their downtown revitalization efforts and support for local development. This event was another testament to their commitment. Kuddos Columbia!

An Extra Sweet Invitation

It's always fun working on a kid's custom birthday invitation especially when it is your friend's daughter AND it is a candyland theme with a circus twist! This extra sweet invitation was made for a 5th birthday party, and this was only the beginning! I was fortunate to attend the event which was done so well and matched this invitation perfectly. Happy 5th Birthday to one sweet girl!!

Antrim

 I recently finished up this re-brand for Antrim Celebrations, a business near and dear to my heart. This is for my parents who have started an event business to preserve my grandmother's home and property in Columbia. You may recall the original website design we did here. They wanted to keep the feel of the site the same, but make it more mobile friendly and include more photos. This is what we came up with. We also created an "A" that can stand alone and used with her brand. Excited to see what kinds of things are in store for the future of this business!

The Hunt for a great logo

I have never been a hunter, but sometimes you have to step outside of your box in design. That is the mark of a good designer - being able to jump from whimisical children's designs to professional healthcare designs to rugged outdoor designs.

I recently worked on the third of those three. This is my second time working on a hunting site, and we worked until we got it all just right. This new business start-up needed a new logo design and website for Davis Outdoor Adventures in Texas. He wanted something he could use that was sharp and bold and that would appeal to his clientele. He also wanted a symbol that could stand alone. Above is what we finalized. The green antlers can stand alone or be used as the V in conjunction with the full name. Another SSN in the books

It was another successful Summer Songwriter Night in Peggy's Field. I can always feel my grandmother's presence out there, especially this night, as it is an event she loved. It was an exciting one to welcome a legendary guitar player, songwriter and performer Steve Cropper. I was lucky enough to get a picture with the musical genius while holding a signed poster that I designed. The banner I created hung on the barn and is now going to a new home in Nashville with Croppers crew. It is always fun to meet the artist whose songs were the inspiration behind the designs. I feel fortunate for the opportunity to work with Edward Moore on this great event. A highlight each year for sure!

Logo Re-brand

This logo was a re-brand for one of my friend's online clothing boutiques. You may recall I helped her with her site when she was just starting out here. That was years ago, and she has found herself needing an updated logo and website. I helped her with the logo. For that, she wanted something that would give her more freedom from the original circle logo but be fun and girly at the same time. This is what we came up with. Annual Summer Songwriter Night Art

THIS is happening in two weeks in Peggy's Field. The 11th annual Summer Songwriters Night has become a staple in my hometown of Columbia, TN. I remember working on one of the first designs for this back in 2007, and I can't believe it has grown so much. This year's event features Steve Cropper, a legendary songwriter and guitarist. This year, I was given the direction of an "Otis Redding" 60's style poster look. He has written so many big hits, that I decided to also incorporate some of the song titles in a play on words for the design. I married the two and this is the final. I am really happy with the way it turned out.

MCPS New Logo

I recently finished up this logo for the Maury County Public Schools in Columbia. This has been a work in progress that I worked with the school board on since the fall of last year. It was an honor for me to be a part of this process since I am an alumni of the MCPS school system.

They wanted something that depicting the forward-thinking and progressive new direction of the school, particularly communicating the digital readiness aspect of their future. They liked the idea of a circle with some sort of symbolic element. In this one they chose, we were able to incorporate several symbolic pieces that are significant to Maury County and their schools.

The navy color was appropriate as it inspired confidence, peace and wisdom. The green color represents truth, safety and respect for the environment.

Like the state flag, the three stars separating the text represent the three Grand Divisions of Tennessee. 

The arrows pointing in a clockwise direction suggest the cycle of continuous development, which was something symbolic to educators according to the Director, Dr. Marczak. 

The letter “M” in the center of the insignia implies Maury County and serves as the trunk of the tree supporting the 22 leaves representing the school system’s 22 schools. 

The central trunk is also flanked by two symbols for wireless internet symbolizing the school systems readiness to move into the digital age. 

LED Billboards

I drive to Columbia quite often, but it is always nice to drive into town and see two of my billboard designs up. These LED boards are nice to switch out messages; however, you almost need to be caught a red light to catch the message. Luckily, I was stopped long enough to notice both. These are for two of my clients - CASA of Maury County and Middle Tennessee Bone & Joint.

Sleigh Ride

I was privileged once again to design the Columbia Main Street Christmas parade art. They always need a logo, flier, and postcard design to use in their marketing. We always keep a bit of whimsy mixed with the real courthouse in downtown. I am honored they allowed me to design this for the 8th year. As you can see, the designs have evolved each year from 2008.

Backyard BBQ

It is always fun working on something that benefits your children. This flier and poster design was created for my daughter's annual Backyard BBQ at her school. I am happy I can contribute something for the 2nd year in a row and look forward to attending the event!

A Logo with a Little Vintage and a Lot of Charm

I recently finished up this logo for a client who is opening a vintage boutique. She wanted something that was vintage with a little shabby chic. I just finished up the graphics for another Summer Songwriters Night in Columbia, TN. This year's event was a great success, and I feel lucky for the opportunity to work on the graphics again. The holidays are in full swing, and we are hard at work on cards! You're probably starting to get holiday cards in the mail. This one may be the most important mailings you'll get this season. It is the direct mail for CASA of Maury County Inc Annual Giving Campaign. This campaign centers around giving and the most important gifts of the season. A Fall BBQ

Last night, we had the chance to attend our first Bethesda Backyard BBQ for my daughter's school. It was a great event, and I was honored to create the graphics for the event.

I was honored to be able to design the 28th Annual Columbia Main Street Christmas Parade flyer, postcard and logo. This year the theme was "Underneath the Tree" and the above was the final pieces.
